Meet the Future Homeowners
“I see this opportunity as more than homeownership; it is a chance to create a better future through hard work, determination, and personal growth.”
-From Hydeia’s application letter
Hydeia was born and raised in Asheville. She is currently renting a room from a family member. She has dreamed of being able to have her own space and stability so that she could possibly go back to school and get her degree in Early Childhood Education. Living in a temporary, limited space makes her dream of continuing education difficult.
While she is the most grateful to have the support and generosity of her family, she is seeking independence. Unfortunately, the cost of renting in her hometown makes that very challenging for a single person. She has worked hard to provide for herself and her family, who also feels the challenges of high rent costs.
For Hydeia, owning a home of her own would mean so much more than simply having a house; it would give her peace of mind, a safe environment to grow, and the chance to broaden her horizons, spread her wings, and create a future she has only dreamed of. Through a partnership with Asheville Habitat, Hydeia will put down a foundation for a house–and her future.
