ARCHR Launches $1M Fundraising Campaign with Lead Gift from Deerfield

,

Members of Asheville Regional Coalition for Home Repair (ARCHR)* have been working collaboratively since Hurricane Helene to ensure impacted low-income homeowners receive the help they need to repair their storm-damaged homes. Though more than 200 families have been helped to date, 400 have yet to be served.

Volunteer Spotlight: Ken Schulman, Disaster Home Repair

, ,

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, volunteers came from around the country to help in repairing homes damaged by the storm. Lieutenant Ken Schulman, firefighter and team leader of Illinois Water Rescue 1, chose to spend his vacation returning to Asheville to help Habitat’s rebuilding efforts.

Subcontracting Disaster Repairs

, ,

Some jobs were simply too involved, required too high of a skill set, or carried too much risk for volunteer help. Some homes needed to be gutted down to the studs and treated with mold remediation before repairs could begin. Today, homeowners are being served at a rapid pace thanks to a national contractor and many local companies.
