About Us

Founded in 1983, Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity was the first Habitat affiliate in North Carolina. Together, with support from volunteers, donors, and advocates we have helped thousands of low-income residents in Buncombe and Madison Counties achieve stable, affordable housing through our homeownership, home repair, and disaster home repair programs. Better health, education, and well-being– it all starts with home.

In December 2021, Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity and Madison County Habitat for Humanity joined forces to strengthen Habitat for Humanity in our region. As a combined organization serving Buncombe and Madison Counties, more families will be served with life-changing homeownership and home repair programs in the coming years.

Between 2018 and 2028, we will empower 1,000 more families to improve their housing and build strong, stable futures. Read our FY23-25 Strategic Plan.
