Meet the Future Homeowners

The Collington Family

“I want to provide a safe and stable home for my children so that I can break the cycle of poverty.”

~ from Natira Collington’s application letter

Natira was born and raised in Buncombe County and is thrilled about the opportunity to own a Habitat for Humanity home. She is delighted about the prospect of moving from public housing to a safe, permanent and affordable home of her own. She is the mother of four children, ages 20, 16, 6, and 3.  Her oldest daughter is grown and has two children of her own.

Natira and her children currently live in a temporary 3- bedroom apartment that is overcrowded, unhealthy, and unsafe.
