Marionela’s journey has been defined by perseverance, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to family. Being single parent, her children are her greatest blessing and the biggest motivation to work hard and succeed.  It’s not easy carrying the responsibility of supporting her children and parents, with all of them under the same roof.

After moving to the United States, she faced the daunting challenges of building a new life from the ground up. Marionela worked fervently to provide her family with love, support, and a better future. But even if she worked around the clock, she still could not afford to buy a house in Asheville’s high-cost market. As a mother, it was hurtful to think she might never be able to give her children a place they could truly call home.

But with the help of so many people coming together to build homes, community and hope, Asheville Habitat is making homeownership a reality. As a Habitat homeowner, her children will have a safe environment where they can focus on school and have room to play. Through Habitat, her parents will have the comfort and security of a permanent home filled with love and laughter. The opportunity to be fully rooted in the community is the happy ending they envisioned when they started the journey to their new lives.
