Scott and Amy Aly's Habitat home is currently being built on Broadview Drive in Asheville's Oakley neighborhood.
Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity offers civic clubs, alumni associations, professional societies, and other community groups a unique opportunity to socialize together and strengthen organizational spirit while, at the same time, providing a tangible community service and helping a family in need.
Participation ranges from a single
Volunteer-Group Opportunity on our home construction site to
sponsoring an entire house. For more information, please contact
Jim Lowder, Director of Development.
Philanthropic foundations play a significant role in both AAHH’s house building program and in operations. Grants from private foundations support our capacity building efforts, help us acquire land and develop infrastructure, and assist with capital projects.
Foundation support comes from large private and corporate foundations as well as smaller family foundations. For more information, please contact
Jim Lowder, Director of Development.
Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity builds houses primarily with donations from the private sector. The role of government funding is limited. Nevertheless, government does play a vital role in setting the stage for our house construction. The City of Asheville has for many years provided CDBG funds and HOME funds for the selection and support of homeowner families, and for the acquisition and development of land on which we can build houses. The North Carolina Housing Finance Agency also provides grants and zero-interest loans for including energy efficient components in our houses.
