Asheville Christian Academy Donates $300,000 to the Asheville Regional Coalition for Home Repair
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (April 9, 2026) – Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity announces a $300,000 donation from Asheville Christian Academy to benefit the Asheville Regional Coalition for Home Repair (ARCHR), of which Habitat is part. The funding will support disaster home repair work for low-income families in Swannanoa who were impacted by Hurricane Helene.
The check presentation, which took place at an ARCHR client’s Swannanoa home currently undergoing repair, represents a tithe from Asheville Christian Academy’s own capital campaign to rebuild their school, serving to give back after the community previously supported their recovery efforts.
The donation is expected to support approximately ten disaster home repair jobs in Swannanoa. At present, contracts for seven projects in the area have already been signed and are in various stages of completion. All projects require extensive interior, exterior, and water mitigation repairs.

“It’s wonderful to see Asheville Christian Academy, as a prominent organization and employer in the Swannanoa community, recognizing the need and stepping up with this level of funding to serve their neighbors,” Joel Johnson, Home Repair Director at Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity said. “We’re grateful that our mission aligns with their vision of how they want to use these funds within their community.”

ARCHR is also partnering with local Swannanoa organizations to help identify additional families in the area who require assistance due to the effects of the storm. This critical disaster repair work is being accomplished with the help of trusted contractor partners and is made possible by the generosity of organizations like Asheville Christian Academy.
