Arden Finish 2000x800

A grass field to 21 homes, a thriving community

From start to finish, a visual look of Asheville Habitat’s first neighborhood in South Buncombe

By Maddy Alewine, Communications Specialist

Asheville Habitat is excited to announce the completion of its first neighborhood in South Buncombe- a 21-home community in Arden. Preliminary infrastructure began in the fall of 2016 and the last family bought their home, Student Build #4, in April of 2019. This parcel of land has become a thriving neighborhood full of folks investing in their community by shopping locally, paying property taxes, and making mortgage payments to Habitat; payments that will help others become homeowners. Thank you to all the volunteers, donors, homeowners, and staff that came together to build strength, stability and self-reliance.
