Josephat Luvumba came to the United States in 2016 to give her family a better life, new opportunities, and with hopes that her son would have a chance to receive a good education. She has recently been blessed to reunite her daughter and son again. Josephat and her children have fallen in love with Asheville and the weather, yet the rising cost of rent has left them thinking homeownership is not obtainable.

Josephat decided to give Habitat a try when her friend shared information about Habitat’s homeownership program with her. Going through the process and learning more about Habitat, Josephat has something to say to future applicants: “I have confidence in Habitat, and I would advise everyone to get their own home to avoid paying rent.”

By partnering with Habitat, Josephat will no longer worry about rising rent, her children will have the space they need and want, and they will all have a safe and stable place to call their forever home.
