Meet the Homeowner

“It’s an opportunity to make my dream of being a homeowner in my hometown a reality.”

~ from Malic’s application letter

A native of Asheville, Malic Lowe’s family has been here for many generations. He wants to continue the family tradition and remain in Asheville, but the area’s high cost of living has made it a challenge. He has been searching for affordable housing and stability for years since he moved out on his own. He had found only one option to obtain affordable housing: relying on three roommates.

Malic was eager to secure affordable housing without roommates. Through his resilience, determination, and commitment to become a homeowner, he decided to complete an application with Asheville Habitat after having it for two weeks. Now his advice to anyone interested in Habitat is, “apply”!

By partnering with Habitat, Malic will be able to carry on the family tradition of calling Asheville home, planting firm roots where he grew up. Housing affordability and homeownership in Asheville is no longer a dream, it’s now a reality for Malic.
