Meet the Future Homeowners
“A permanent home would give my children consistency in their education, a sense of pride, and the stability every child needs to thrive.”
~from Rosie Cowart’s application letter
Rosie is the heart of a lively, close-knit family of six. She first came to the area for a unique opportunity as a chef, but her journey led her to a new and meaningful role with Asheville Rides Transit. Through every change and challenge, one thing has remained—her devotion to her children. Rosie puts her energy into making sure they feel supported and focused on school, sports, and their community.
Due to the high cost of rent, a 3-bedroom apartment was the most she could afford. As you can imagine with 5 growing kids, the lack of space was a problem that only increased as they grew. Owning a home was a dream she carried quietly but fiercely. With her motto being “Work hard, stay focused, and go for it!” her determination led her to Asheville Habitat. Being approved to purchase a home through Habitat’s affordable homeownership program, Rosie is ready to apply her strong work ethic and positive attitude to building a house for her family.
About the Sponsor
Rosie’s future home is the 8th Legacy Builder Society House, honoring all who provided for Asheville Habitat families in their estates. The Adopt-a-Lot sponsor is Fayette Brown. For Rosie, becoming a homeowner will be nothing short of transformative- providing security for their future, a reward for her perseverance, and a symbol of love for her children.
