Meet the Homeowner
“Being in a home that we can afford and not have to worry about moving homes/schools would comfort both myself and my son in so many ways…”
– From Summer’s application letter
Summer has worked hard to continue her education and ensure better opportunities for herself and her son. She is grateful for being able to manage thus far in providing for her son and is looking forward to giving him his dream: a house to call their own. He enjoys being outside, and living in various small apartments has not afforded him the opportunity unless visiting friends’ houses.
From the moment Summer heard about Habitat for Humanity six years ago, she was interested but felt it to be a far-fetched dream that was for other people. Tiring of moving and watching her son change schools again and again, she decided to apply. She opted to give herself the same compassion and energy she gives to others in the community.
Summer is excited to be moving forward in the Habitat homeownership process, to provide a stable environment for her son where he can thrive. She encourages anyone with doubts like hers to just take the initiative and apply. “You are worth that!”
