Meet the Future Homeowner

“The sense of security and well-being this opportunity would allow in my life as I age is what I yearn for.”

~from Bonnie Lynn’s application letter

At 56, Bonnie stands at the threshold of a long-awaited dream – one that represents a
meaningful step towards stability, independence, and peace of mind. After 12 years of
happily renting from one of our own Asheville Habitat employees, she has built a life here in
Asheville grounded in gratitude, resilience, and quiet determination. Now, for the first time,
she is exploring the possibility of homeownership – something she has yearned for over
many years.

Single and thinking ahead to the future, the prospects for ongoing renting present greater
challenges. She is motivated by a desire for greater security as she grows older and a place
that is truly her own, where she can feel rooted and safe. This journey represents more
than just buying a house; it’s about creating a lasting foundation, a personal sanctuary, and a
new sense of empowerment.

With the encouragement of her current Asheville Habitat employee landlord, she is excited
for this next chapter. She carries with her the strength of her experiences and the quiet
confidence of someone who has patiently waited for the right moment. And now, with
partnering with Asheville Habitat, that moment is finally here.
