Meet the Future Homeowners
“A Habitat home would give me the opportunity to establish stability, create a true sense of home, and focus on building a better future for my family.”
-From Jermaine’s application letter
Jermaine, a dedicated single father of two teenagers, has spent years doing everything he can to provide stability and opportunity for his children. Like many working parents, he has always believed in hard work and responsibility, consistently doing what he can to support his family and keep them moving forward.
As a born and raised Ashevillian, Jermaine desires to raise his boys here in the mountains of North Carolina. But despite all efforts, maintaining stable housing has often presented challenges. Frequent moves caused by landlords selling properties or raising rent have made it hard to create stability for his family. Each transition means adjusting to small spaces, new neighborhoods, new routines, and the uncertainty that comes with not knowing how long a place will act as a home.
Through it all, his focus has remained on his children – encouraging them to continue their education instead of getting jobs and believing that better opportunities are possible. Now, through Asheville Habitat, he is showing his kids that his belief in betterment is coming true. For him, homeownership will mean dignity, consistency, and a place to finally put down roots. As the moving boxes get put away, Jermaine and his family will turn their focus to making their house a true home and look forward to making lasting memories together.
