Job Description – Homeowner Services Specialist

To be successful in this role, the applicant must have a high level of computer and organizational skills; they also must have experience in loan processing and fair housing regulations; community development and affordable housing experience are preferred.

The pay range is $24.50 – $27.00/ hour.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Homeowner Services Director, the Homeowner Services Specialist is responsible for the implementation of Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity’s (AAHH) Homeownership Programs including program outreach, loan processing, mortgage origination, underwriting, and post-closing support.

Essential Functions:

1.           Coordinate with HOS Director to ensure all aspects of AAHH’s homeownership and home repair policies follow all municipal, state and federal laws.

2.           Process and document all aspects of homeownership program applications from recruitment of qualified applicants to pre-qualification through to closing.

3.           Process and document all aspects of the home repair program applications from pre-approval to certificate of completion.

4.           Manage pipeline of applicants according to production capacity and product availability.

5.           Assist in developing and implementing the annual Homeowner Services marketing plan with an emphasis on DEI.

6.           Maintain well-organized Homeownership and Home Repair program files.

7.           Manage the collection and sharing of data and stories as needed for evaluation, reporting, resource development, advocacy, and communication.

8.           Maintain application tracking databases and reporting of homeowner selection and home repair data to HFHI and other departments as needed.

9.           Facilitate Homeownership information sessions and update material as needed.

10.         Provide staff support to the Homeowner Loan Committee

11.         Participate in events related to Homeowner Services.

12.         Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

•            BA in a related field or equivalent experience required.

•            Experience in affordable housing, community development, mortgage lending, case management, and financial literacy preferred.

•            Knowledge of loan processing and fair housing regulations. NMLS or Qualified Loan Originator (QLO) certification preferred.

•            High level computer literacy.

•            A commitment to racial and economic equity and proven experience working with diverse population.

•            Strong organizational process management skills.

•            Commitment to the protection of applicant information, and confidentiality

•            Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•            Exceptional attention to details.

•            Ability to track and analyze large sets of data.

•            Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for the mission of AAHH.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely requires operating standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Occasionally works in outside conditions that can include inclement weather, heat and humidity, high noise levels and navigating rough terrain.

Must be able to travel to meetings and events and communicate appropriately with stakeholders.

Some evening and weekend hours are required.
