Meet the Future Homeowners
“We want to thank Asheville Habitat for Humanity for being an aid to families that have dreams to have their own house to call home.”
~from Gheorghe and Natalia Traci’s application letter
Being close with your family is great, but being too close to your family can be suffocating. For the Tracis, a family of seven, finding a place to call their own has been challenging.
Gheorghe, father of five, works in construction, building new homes for other families. But, as the sole breadwinner, Gheorghe’s goal of buying a home for his own family was long out of reach.
With limited options, the Tracis found themselves in an apartment where the five young children have little room to grow and play. Noisy neighbors separated by thin walls, keep the little ones up at night. They have been victims of theft, and the long-term health risks that come from being exposed to black mold are a constant worry.
As parents, Gheorghe and Natalia want to be able to give their children the best, telling Habitat, “It would be a blessing for our family to have our own house that we could call home.”
Being approved to purchase a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house on New Heights Drive, the Tracis’ hard work ethic will be put to great use. In completing the required Sweat Equity, Gheorghe will be able to use his handyman skills to secure a home for his family, while building connections with his future neighbors.
