The Gisca Family
“We want a safe place and environment for our children.”
~ from the Gisca’s application letter
Meet the Giscas, our newest homebuyers selected for our new Candler neighborhood. Originally, from the country of Moldova, the Giscas immigrated to the United States in 2016, and settled in Western North Carolina to be close to Gheorghe’s brother.
Being a hard worker, Gheorghe quickly found employment as a machine operator with Mills Manufacturing. Galina, a homemaker, turned their small apartment into a home just in time to welcome baby number four!
They were grateful to find an income-based rental. But that gratitude turned to concern when a neighborhood shooting occurred. This changed everything. With four little ones being limited to playing inside, the need for suitable housing became more pressing.
When a fellow Moldovan invited them to her home in Habitat’s Carney Place, they were in awe. They could not believe that such a beautiful neighborhood was also affordable. A yard for their children to play and grow, and the comfort of knowing that they would never have to move again, provided them with the motivation they needed to apply.
Gheorghe and Galina have been approved to purchase a 4 bedroom 2 bath home in Candler. Having traveled 6,000 miles to find their place in the world, the Giscas can finally say they are home.
