Meet the Future Homeowner

I have heard from several people of the good work that Habitat for Humanity has been doing to help people who need affordable housing. I am very grateful for the opportunity
to work with Habitat

~from Caviena Crosse’s application letter

Born in Jamaica and infused with the spirit of the Caribbean, Caviena Crosse is joy personified. Rarely seen without a smile on her face, Caviena has the ability to turn foe into friend in the blink of an eye.

With positivity being a driving force of her personality, she is a master at diffusing tense situations. As a Consumer Affairs Agent for Ocean X, Caviena is the point person for all customer complaints. In a position known for its high rate of turnover, Caviena is entering her 9th year on the job!

The power of positive thinking has gotten Caviena through most of life’s hardships, but securing affordable housing had become her white whale. Renting an apartment with her dad was meant to be a temporary solution, but when one year turned into two, Caviena began to wonder if an alternative solution existed.

Not one to give up, Caviena started thinking outside the box. Upon learning that a Habitat mortgage was far less than the going rent, Caviena found that homeownership was the solution that had evaded her for so long.

As a Habitat homeowner, Caviena will be able to live independently, and her dad will be free to enjoy his retirement on the road. Caviena’s 2 bedroom/2 bathroom townhome on Curry Court is the 13th Asheville Area Habitat house sponsored by Buncombe County Episcopal churches.
