A single mother who has worked in childcare for 8 years, Alexis has learned a lot about the importance of child development and mental health. Growing up, she moved around a lot and never experienced stability. She didn’t know just how important a place to call home is.

Alexis knew when she became a mother that her life had to change. Though unsure how to make it happen, she wanted to give her daughter the stability she never experienced as a child. When she found Habitat’s affordable homeownership program, she knew she’d be able to provide her daughter with a sense of permanence.

As a Habitat homeowner, Alexis will no longer have to worry about housing instability. She will gain a newfound sense of peace; one that comes from knowing the rent isn’t going to increase and the landlord isn’t going to sell the property. She is excited by the prospect of watching her daughter play outside and seeing the dog explore their own yard. They are thrilled to soon have a home to call their own, and they look forward to giving back to others in the community. Alexis will purchase a 2-bedroom home in the Glenn Bridge neighborhood.
