The Williams Family
“A Habitat home is a chance for me to give my family a home that is ours
that we can cherish and grow in together.”
~from Staci William’s application letter
Staci Williams knows the meaning of hard work. Being interested in health care at a young age, Staci worked hard to earn her CNA while still in high school. She wanted to be ahead of the game when she went to college. When an unplanned pregnancy put her dreams on hold, Staci discovered that the best education comes from learning how to deal with the unexpected.
She didn’t plan on becoming a parent at such a young age, but she accepted the challenge and forged ahead. Though college had to be placed on hold, she remained steadfast in her determination to work in the medical field. She started working for Mission Hospital right out of high school, and through good, old-fashioned hard work she progressed in her career.
Reliable, steady, compassionate: these are all words that her co-workers use to describe her. Maintaining dual responsibilities as the Staff Scheduler and Telemetry Technician, Staci is known as a “One-Woman Wonder” around the cardiac unit. And as a mother of 3, her work doesn’t stop there! With three little ones orbiting around her, Staci provides the gravitational pull that holds everything and everyone together.
Staci has overcome some steep hurdles, but one challenge that was proving to be especially difficult was finding suitable housing for her family. Living in an income-based apartment meant living in fear of getting a raise at work. After noticing an increase in drug activity around her neighborhood, Staci set her sights on homeownership through Habitat.
Staci has been approved to purchase a 4 bedroom/2 bathroom, energy-efficient home in Arden. With stable, affordable housing, Staci will be able to advance her career without fear of being displaced, and her kids will have a safe neighborhood to play and grow.
