Meet the Future Homeowner

“There are many things I wish to do for my children… and all that begins with a
solid foundation, a solid home.”
~From Jared’s Application Letter

Jared Gelineau is no stranger to hard work. Asheville Habitat’s newest homebuyer and single father of two, Jared relocated to Asheville to raise his sons in a quiet, peaceful city. He has since spent over half a decade balancing two jobs to provide for his family while trying to save for a future home — a home that he hopes will offer his children a sense of community in a family-friendly neighborhood.”

Despite Jared’s hard work and spotless rental history, rising rental costs coupled with an increasingly unaffordable housing market have made it difficult to make ends meet. After yet another increase in rent, Jared knew he had to escape the uncertainty that comes with renting. When Jared learned he could find an affordable mortgage in partnership with Habitat, he jumped on the opportunity, writing “my savior here is getting a loan through Habitat that has a low interest rate and reasonable mortgage.”

Jared expressed to Habitat that he is motivated by his desire to create a solid foundation for his children, starting by giving them a home they can call their own. Recently, Jared was approved to purchase a 3-bedroom townhome in the quiet, secluded New Heights neighborhood. There, his family will be one of many in a diverse, multi-generational community. As a soon-to-be first-time homeowner, Jared looks forward to all the home-cooked meals to come, and to watching his children grow and prosper with a
solid foundation at last.
