“I know if we are given the opportunity with Habitat, it would give us the safe family neighborhood with a safe affordable stable home.”
~ from Stormy and Gregory’s application letter
Stormy and Gregory Norton both grew up in Western North Carolina and want to stay here. For years, they’ve dreamt of and searched for stable, affordable housing. But the area’s high-priced housing market made it seem out of reach.
Frequent moves, financial pressure, and medical illness created a black tunnel with little light at the end, but the family was determined to break the cycle of housing instability they had experienced for so many years.
As a child, Stormy visited the Habitat ReStore regularly. She recalled this childhood memory when thinking about housing options and was reminded that the store supports Habitat’s work. The Norton family decided to give Habitat’s homeownership program a try, and they prayed daily for the opportunity to become Habitat homeowners.
By partnering with Habitat, the Norton family’s dream of a safe, healthy, and affordable home to celebrate holidays, create memories, and have a place for their children to call home for years to come, is coming true.
Stormy and Gregory have been approved to purchase a 4-bedroom home in the Glenn Bridge community.
