Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity has built nearly 300 single family houses and repaired nearly 200 homes in Buncombe County. For the very first time, we will build in the south part of the county – in Arden. This new 21-house neighborhood on Jon Kraus Way is located between Beale and Ducker Roads, and construction on the first house begins in May 2017.
Our Arden neighborhood is closer to more employers than any previous location where we’ve built. With employers and a transit line nearby, future homeowners will have an opportunity to live closer to where they work, reducing transportation costs and commute times.
In addition to transforming the lives of future homeowners and their families, this parcel of land will become a thriving neighborhood full of folks investing in their community by shopping locally, paying property taxes, and making mortgage payments to Habitat that will help others become homeowners.
We’re excited to bring Habitat homeownership to Arden for the first time! Buncombe County, City of Asheville, and NC Housing Finance Agency are supporting our work in Arden, and we hope to count on your partnership, too.
Everyone deserves a decent place to live and everyone can do something to help make that possible for another family.
