The Lingerfelt-Early Family
The Lingerfelt-Early Family
Sonya Early and Thomas Lingerfelt are motivated to improve their housing situation and their family is eager for a place to call ‘home’. They are enthusiastic about building their house in partnership with their neighbors and community volunteers.
The Lingerfelt-Early family currently owns a 2-bedroom trailer. The two older girls share a room, while the four year old son shares a bedroom with his parents, making it an overcrowded situation. In addition, significant maintenance is needed on the trailer due to recurring issues such as water damage, leaking and insufficient heat.
Thomas works is an electrician at Milko and Sonya stays at home with the children. The family is grateful for Habitat’s homeownership program and appreciates getting a hand up, instead of a hand out.
“We want our children to have a safe home so that they don’t have to worry about anything except being kids. We want our kids to know that there is always hope and help out there for people like us who are willing to work hard.”
