The McMillan Family
The McMillan Family

Mishaunta McMillan and her four children are anxious to move from the extremely unsafe neighborhood where they currently live; gun violence and drug activity prevails there and they have experienced several shootings near their residence.
Mishaunta seeks a better life for her children; a place where they can truly feel ‘at home’ and where her children can play safely outside.

Mishaunta has worked with Asheville City Pre-School since 1998, and through the years has attended school to advance her position there.  Today, she works as a teacher assistant.

Mishaunta was encouraged to apply for Habitat’s homeownership program by friends who have become Habitat homeowners themselves.  Being approved is a dream-come-true for Mishaunta who wants to demonstrate to her children they can accomplish goals if they make a plan and work hard.

Mishaunta is excited to be able to provide her family with stability and a safe place for them to grow and play.
