Shaconda Ellis works in Reception at All Kids Pediatrics. For many years, Shaconda paid a disproportionate amount of income towards rent, so she decided to move in with her sister. Shaconda and her eight year old daughter sleep on futons in her sister’s den. The move has enabled her to pay off debt and improve her credit; however it has created a situation of over-crowding in her sister’s home.
Recently, Shaconda visited Habitat’s Enka Hills neighborhood and was “absolutely blown away” by the houses, the yards and the view. The Ellis family is ecstatic about moving to the thriving and diverse Enka Hills community, as Shaconda wants to provide her daughter with stability and a place the call “home”.
