For more than 10 years Ray was actively involved in Asheville Area Habitat, working as a crew chief, taking his tractor to landscape most of the lawns in the Oakwood subdivision on his "off" days, recruiting volunteers, and contributing money as well as time.
This house is lovingly dedicated to Ray's memory by his wife and children.

Scerbina Family with Celeste Rast
The Scerbina Family
Ghenadie and Natalia Scerbina moved to Buncombe County five years ago from Moldova. Ghenadie works at the Ingles Distribution Center, pulling together orders for individual stores. His supervisor and the human resources department speak highly of him, and feel he has a bright future with the company. Natalia does not currently work due to the high cost of childcare.
The Scerbinas have three children ages 3-5. They currently rent a 2 bedroom apartment in West Asheville in a complex plagued with drugs, prostitution and violence. The Scerbina’s next door neighbor had several gunshots fired into their front door and vehicle. In addition, the Scerbinas have problems with the electric wiring and mold.
The Scerbinas are excited to soon move to the safe and thriving Enka Hills neighborhood and become the owners of the Ray R. Rast Memorial House.
