Susan Horton
Susan Horton

Susan Horton works full-time for CPU2, a call center, and part-time at the new Grand Bohemian Hotel. Due to her limited income and financial obligations, Susan has had difficulty finding affordable housing in Buncombe County.

Susan has volunteered with Habitat through her faith community, Jubilee!  When she attended an event for Habitat’s 2008 Interfaith House, she heard a Habitat spokesperson promoting the homeownership program and realized she could be eligible.  Not long after, she applied and was approved.

Since she was a child, Susan’s housing situation has lacked stability and permanence.  More times than she can remember, and for a myriad of different reasons, she was asked or told to move.  She is absolutely thrilled by the prospect of owning a Habitat home and can’t wait to set down roots in a neighborhood that she will call home for a long time to come.
