The Stepanov Family
Sergey and Tamara Stepanov moved to Asheville in 2003 from Washington. Originally from Moldova, they left their family farm because the country was poor and opportunities for increasing their income were not possible.
Sergey has worked at Mills Manufacturing for three years and Tamara has worked for two years with Advantage Home Care.
Sergey and Tamara live with their four children in an over-crowded three bedroom apartment in an unsafe neighborhood.
Sergey and Tamara looked into other ways of buying a home, but the monthly payments were not affordable. They feel the Habitat homes are not only affordable, but also well-built and in good neighborhoods.
