PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The property off Woodland Avenue will be home to 22 Habitat families when all houses are complete. This neighborhood of 2, 3, and 4 bedroom homes will be designed in an Arts and Crafts style to reflect other Asheville area neighborhoods. Allison-Ramsey Architects, William Withers, and the Women in Architecture group have all provided valuable input in helping Habitat develop this design.
All houses will have an interior layout that allows access for the physically challenged; exterior design will allow for minor retrofitting should a ramp for accessibility be required at a later date.
In cooperation with North Carolina Housing Finance Agency and Advanced Energy Corporation, all 22 houses will be built to Energy Star Home Certification. These sustainable building standards will not only ensure a material and energy efficient construction but also Advanced Energy will guarantee the heating and cooling energy usage for the house for the next two years.
All houses will be HealthyBuilt Homes silver level certified by the WNC Green Building Council.
