Volunteers raise the front wall of the 25th Anniversary House.
At the construction site, a volunteer can expect to be involved in a variety of tasks. These involve such things as:
Framing
Setting roof trusses
Installing shingles, windows, siding, cabinets or trim
Painting or staining
Building a deck
Landscaping
The workday is from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; a full day is required. Please arrive on time.
Lunch break is from 11:30 a.m. to noon. You will need to provide your own lunch.
The first step for a new volunteer is to attend a Volunteer Orientation.
SEVERE WEATHER
In the event of severe weather like snow, ice or rain, please call (828) 257-2623, the Habitat construction trailer, after 7:30 a.m. for a recorded message regarding any schedule changes.
What to bring:
- Work gloves
- Work boots
- Work clothing
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Hand tools, if you have them
- Lunch
- Water
