Crossroads Assembly Raised Wall on 2nd Sponsored House
With no rest for the weary, one week after the completion and open house for their first sponsored home, Crossroads Assembly raised the wall of its second sponsored Habitat house. The ceremonial event took place Saturday, November 19, 2011. The house is the second of three new Habitat homes in the Shiloh neighborhood. The future homeowner family, the Arnauts, Habitat staff and volunteers, and Crossroads Assembly representatives participated.
The church first became familiar with Asheville Area Habitat when one of its members became the proud owner of a Habitat home. After receiving a very generous and unexpected gift, the church decided to tithe a portion of it to Asheville Area Habitat. The tithe was enough to sponsor two new homes.
Habitat’s Sponsorship Coordinator, Betsy Warren, commented, “Thanks to the generous financial sponsorship from Crossroads and to the volunteers from the church who helped build the first home, the Bassham family will close on the first Crossroads house on November 17th. And the second Crossroads Assembly house to be built this year comes right on the heels of the first one. Two Habitat families will be in warm, safe new homes thanks to the remarkable generosity of this loving, hard-working congregation.”
