A Safe And Decent Home For Everyone

Research shows that safe and decent housing is linked to the emotional, physical and social well-being of families.  Kids do better in school, adults have the opportunity to increase their earning potential, all families members benefit from a safe and healthy home, and communities are strengthened when their citizens have safe and decent shelter.  To help families realize their full potential we offer two programs: homeownership and home repair.   If you, or someone you know is living in substandard housing, Habitat may be able to help you.  Applicants must qualify based on income, need, ability to pay and residency.

International Tithe

  • “Safe and decent shelter is a basic human need that knows no geographic boundaries.  Here in Buncombe County and in partnership with five other countries, we strive to eliminate substandard housing."

~ Lew Kraus, Executive Director of Asheville Area Habitat.
