National Volunteer Appreciation Week: April 6-12, 2014
Asheville Area Habitat is grateful for the more than 2,100 volunteers who donated 61,000+ hours of service to our affiliate in 2013. Volunteer labor helps make Habitat's homeownership and home repair programs affordable. In addition to serving as the backbone of our building programs, volunteers are also critical to our ReStore, Administrative Office and committees. We value and love our volunteers!
Core volunteers are those who share their time and talent with us on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Many have been volunteering with us for 10, 15 and even 20 years! Each day this week we will add a new article about a core volunteer, so please check back daily!
Meet husband and wife team Ken Roth and Anne Connelly
Meet Marathon Man Dick Allen
Meet Family Services Volunteer Rhoda Groce
Meet Repair Man Extraordinaire Sid Finkel
Meet Bob Laveck, aka "Bob A"
We'd also like to thank SUBWAY® Restaurants for saluting Habitat volunteers across the Carolinas with lunch deliveries for volunteers during the celebratory week. We appreciate Subway recognizing the efforts of Habitat volunteers in our region as 80 Habitat affiliates rely on approximately 175,000 volunteers every year to complete hundreds of projects in local communities!
