Special Builds

There are a few special builds that have put Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity on the map over the years and tend to attract volunteers in droves.  Annually in the spring, the enormously popular Women Build empowers women to help eradicate substandard housing.  Towards the end of the summer, the Interfaith House takes off and unites people of various faiths towards the unanimous goal of providing a safe and decent home for a family in need.  And in December, the well-known "Before the Jam, Lend a Hand" volunteer week provides Warren Haynes Christmas Jam fans the opportunity to connect with the cause that the annual concert supports. These particular builds tend to draw a lot of support and a lot of publicity.  But in reality, each and every build is special.  Not because of the volunteers or the theme or the number of times it is mentioned in the news; but because it means another family is moving from substandard conditions to a safe and decent home of their very own.
