Service Trips

Radauti, Romania : August 13-23, 2012

While Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity is not offering a service trip through our affiliate this year, one of our Core Volunteers is organizing a Global Village Trip to Romania, in partnership with the Habitat affiliate there. Team Leader Charlie Franck has worked and lived overseas for 33 years as an international educator in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Kenya and Egypt.  His partnership with Habitat for Humanity began ten years ago and he has led, co-led or participated in builds in Jordan (2), Hungary, India, Nepal, Thailand and Indonesia. Recently retired to Asheville, North Carolina, he volunteers regularly with our affiliate and is our Youth Program Organizer.

If you're looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a tangible difference and do something meaningful, and you're ready to work up a sweat and get your hands dirty, then join Charlie for a Habitat for Humanity build in Radauti, Romania. The volunteer team will work alongside families in need of simple, decent and affordable housing. There are no special construction, work or language skills required. We only ask that team members be flexible, have a positive attitude, a sense of humor and be committed to helping others.  The trip will offer team members a unique way to experience a foreign country, including close interaction with local Romanians and first hand experience of their daily lifestyle. Team members will also build lasting friendships with fellow teammates.  For complete trip details, please click here.
