Building a Way Home
Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity has raised more than 220 roofs, now it's time to raise the bar. We have embarked on an $8m campaign, called Building a Way Home, to bring safe and decent housing to even more Buncombe County families. We need to eliminate sub-standard housing from our community and we need your participation to make that happen.
Building A Way Home includes:
-
Acquiring and developing 150 building lots for future house construction
-
Implementing Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI) to broaden the scope of services to include repairs and rehabs of existing houses in the community
-
Purchasing and renovating the old Southern Railway building at 33 Meadow Rd. for Habitat's administrative offices, and construction and deconstruction warehousing
-
Expanding the existing Home Store at 31 Meadow Rd., adding 13,000 square feet of retail space and 135 parking spaces
Proceeds from the Habitat ReStore will contribute $2.5m to the campaign, and homeowner mortgage payments will contribute $500,0000. We are inviting members of the community to help us raise the additional $5m.
