• Volunteer With Us

Join our team!

Asheville Area ReStores are consistently top ranked in the nation – an achievement that would be impossible without our dedicated team of volunteers. When you volunteer with Asheville ReStores, you lend your special skills to help your Buncombe County neighbors. The ReStores are a perfect place for volunteers who don’t necessarily want to swing a hammer but want to support Asheville Habitat’s mission, and have a great time doing it!

Opportunities to Volunteer

Our ReStores offer a variety of volunteer positions including:

The register volunteers are the first people shoppers see at the ReStore. We’re looking for folks who like to interact with people, and answer questions for people throughout the day as well as feel comfortable running a cash register. Experience running a register is not required, just a desire to learn!

Help keep our ReStores running smoothly! Work with the managers, staff and other volunteers to manage one or more sections of the store, get donated items priced and ready for the floor, and keep the product organized on the shelves for good visibility. You can also help keep store sections stocked and tidy and generally assist our customers with their treasure hunts.

This position will include accepting donations directly from drop-off donors with an emphasis on what we accept and do not accept. Volunteers in this position would be responsible for maintaining a good relationship with both frequent and first-time donors. Staff will assist the volunteer in learning what comprises a “good” donation, and ample training will be provided.

Each small and large appliance that comes through the Asheville ReStores gets tested, and if needed, repaired before it hits the showroom floor. Work with an awesome team of experienced volunteers to maximize the saleable appliances by testing, repairing, and delivering working appliances to our showroom floor each week.

Join our housewares team to sort, prepare, and stock housewares on the sales floor.  We wash all textiles and dishes in need of a cleaning before they get delivered to the shelves.

Help our Deconstruction team salvage reusable and saleable materials from remodeling projects, buildings slated for demolition, and more. Typical tasks include helping to remove kitchen cabinets, windows, doors, large appliances, and electrical fixtures.
