Benefits of Deconstruction

Divert usable materials from our landfills - The Home Store already diverts more than 1,100 tons from local landfills annually. The Deconstruction Service will divert another 100+ tons each year.

Provide a source of affordable building materials for reuse in our community - Just because you don't want those kitchen counters any more, doesn't mean someone else won't want them. The Home Store is a resource for folks looking for reusable materials at a fair price.

Support Habitat's mission to eliminate substandard housing - Items taken out of a home or business through Deconstruction are sold in the Habitat Home Store. Proceeds cover all of Asheville Area Habitat's administrative and fundraising costs...which means every dollar donated goes directly to program services. Home Store proceeds also build a complete Habitat house and pay for the foundation of 17 Habitat houses annually!

Receive a tax deduction for your donation of reusable materials - Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)3 certified non-profit, so your donation of goods may be tax deductible if your itemize. Consult your tax advisor for details.
